21C network

As it becomes more obvious that there needs to be a convergence between PSTN (or POTS) style telephony, and the new concepts of IP data transfer, the PSTN network will be replaced over the next decade with a 21st Century IP network, which will provide new and more exciting opportunities for users to talk and share information in a range of media.

This new network will be made up from very powerful routers connected together by an very wide bandwidth optical network based on Ethernet, IP and MPLS.

The 21st Century network will be VoIP capable but because it does not use the Internet, instead, relying on its own structure, within the UK VoIP on 21CN will be reliable and have a high quality sound.

The 21C Network is already undergoing testing in South Wales, and it is hoped that the rollout will occur from 2009. Odyssey Systems is at the forefront of developing services to allow its customers to benefit from the new network as it is implemented.
